Here's what went up on my wall this January

1) Marvel Encyclopedia - Second Edition

A Christmas present to myself, it was on a ridiculously cheap 2 for 1 at WHSmith so I bought one for a friend and kept the other. I really like having this summary of the key marvel characters as well as records of key events such as World War Hulk and the Secret Invasion. As a fairly casual Marvel fan it's nice to have this record of the wide range of characters and to have concise summaries of their stories as opposed to the bafflingly complex biographies you find online!


2) 'Star Wars' #1

The quoatation marks are there because this latest comic series from Dark Horse is called simple that - Star Wars. Set almost immediately after Episode IV with Luke, Leia and Han dealing with the aftermath of the Death Star's destruction and struggling to find a new home for the Rebellion with the still mighty Empire hot on their tails. 'In the shadow of Yavin' is a five-part run that is already on the third printing of the first issue - get it while you can!! Expect a review at the end of the arc.

Blogga's Wall - July '11

Well this is my Wall post again this month only this time - surprise surprise I'll be using Avatar Kinect. What do you think of this foray into video I know this blog is watched by some people so come on - what do you think?!

The Wall - June '11

Bit late this month - anyway this is what went up on my wall in June.

1) X-Men: First Class












I think I've already said enough about this movie. I really enjoyed this film and can't wait for the next X-Men flick

2) Star Wars - Jedi: The Dark Side













Another new series from Dark Horse, this follows Qui-Gon and his padawan Xanatos in a time long before the Phantom Menace. I haven't really followed much pre-prequel stuff, much preferring stuff that goes forward or explores a new era like Legacy and Knight Errant. Nonetheless I enjoyed the first issue and am interested to see where it goes.

3) Smallville: Series 10













The final series of Smallville is on the air in the UK (though I'm not convinced having heard that for about 3 series now!!) and this one definitely does seem to be gearing towards making Clark our favourite red and blue hero. Things have moved fast with the introduction of Darkseid as a villain, the return of Supergirl, Clark telling Lois his secret and Green Arrow going public as well as much more. It still has it's silly moments, like Lois becoming the goddess Isis but that's well within the remit of Superman and the series as a whole is moving forward and very enjoyable.

The Wall - May '11

OK, you should know the drill by now - here's what went on my wall in the month of May this year.

1) Desmond Miles T-Shirt













It finally arrived! I've had my Abstergo hoodie for a while and it's great to have something that fits into the Assassin's Creed Universe but it's even better to have something from the game itself that one of the characters wears! I'm eagerly awaiting the white hoodie that accompanies it, but UbiWorkshop are out to get all my money 'cause the3y've just released a black hoodie and white version of this t-shirt from the forthcoming Revelations game - can I resist?!

2) The 4400, series 4














The final series of this epic science fiction drama has been out a while, but I finally found it at a decent price, in Johannesburg of all places! (I'm British, it's far way - I mean no slur on South Africans!) I love this show's concept - 4400 people dissapear across a few decades and are returned at once with superpowers as part of a mission to change humanity's futre for the better. The producers were hoping for a fifth series but that didn't happen so the ending wasn't as satisfying as I'd hoped but it did give a lot of answers and wrapped things up as a series nicely. I like the show as it deals more with emotions and uses a minimum of special effects to ahieve great tension as superpowered individuals decide how to use their gifts.

3) Star Wars Coruscant Nights II: Street of Shadows














I'm really loving this series so far, as with the comic series Dark Times it shows the great potential for stories between the trilogies. Continuing the adventures of Jax Pavan a lone Jedi hunted by Vader and member of 'Whiplas' a resistance movement that helps smuggle dissidents in and out of Coruscant. When one such missin gets him involved in a murder case Jax is forced to solve the case himself before the police investigation uncovers his true identity. What I like about this is it deals with real life, the characters go through day to day struggles, not grand adventures and it is a great and gritty feel of life in the Dark Times. It also features Captain Typho of Naboo and Aurra Sing in what can hardly be called cameos...
